Historic Newark house destroyed by fire

A Newark home is a total loss after a fire broke out early Thursday morning.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire that broke out around 4:30 a.m. at the 200 block of Chapman Road.

When firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the vacant home. No injuries were reported.
