Delaware County residents grill airport executive about expansion

You can’t bring a PHL executive to Delaware County and not expect questions about the expansion. Philadelphia International Airport CEO Mark Gale was at Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s County Breakfast Conversation in Upper Darby yesterday to talk about air commerce benefits. Nice try.

County residents and Ridley Park Mayor Henry Eberle Jr. had plenty of questions for Gale during the panel discussion, which was moderated by WHYY’s Tracey Matisak.

Eberle wanted to know why more consideration hadn’t been given to smaller airports as an alternative or supplement to the $5.2 billion project, the Delaware County Times reports. Gale assured him the FAA and airlines had reasons for making the expansion necessary. Residents remain skeptical.
