Delaware authorities issue warnings about home improvement scams

Delawareans are being advised to thoroughly examine home improvement offers to avoid being scammed.

 

Scam artists are more prevalent in the area of home improvement during the spring and summer, and the Delaware Attorney General’s office says consumers can take steps to protect their homes and their bank accounts. 

-Make sure any contractor is licensed and bonded.

-Don’t pay for work up front, and withhold full payment until the job is done. 

AG Beau Biden’s office recently obtained two convictions in separate home improvement fraud cases.  Anyone with questions or concerns about home improvement fraud may call the Consumer Fraud Hotline at 1-800-220-5424.
