Defining blight

Philly Bricks has a bone to pick with SCRUB. The Bricks, a blog billed as a “playful look at architectural nonsense,” has taken aim at SCRUB’s mission to keep billboards off Market East.

Brownstoner first caught wind of the scuffle, in which Philly Bricks put SCRUB on blast for misrepresenting the proposal and being shortsighted.

SCRUB has taken a stance against Bill 100552 proposed by Councilman Frank DiCicco. The bill would bring large, flashy billboards to Market East between Seventh and 13th streets with the goal of getting more pedestrians on those blocks and using revenue to further develop the stretch.
