DE budget bill filed early this year

As part of an effort to increase government transparency, Delaware’s budget for FY 2011 has been released a week before it must be approved.

In a typical June at Legislative Hall in Dover, Delaware lawmakers would have a very limited amount of time to review the budget bill, but this year is different.

In an effort to increase transparency, the budget bill has been introduced in Dover a week before the end of the legislative session.  Senate Bill 310 will likely be approved in the final hours of June 30th.  To get the bill out earlier than usual, the final meeting of the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council (DEFAC) was pushed earlier so budget writers could get the latest revenue forecast for June in time to release the budget early.
