Daily News goes inside Philly’s ATV dirtbike culture

ATVs have been getting a lot of attention lately — mostly for their association with gangs, crime and drugs.

But the Daily News has a package today that explores the other side of the story, from the point of view of those who spend their spare time cruising Philadelphia’s streets for fun.
Reporter Dana DiFilippo even hitched a ride with a guy named Pooch for the sake of the story. It’s worth checking out the package to get a sense of what makes ATVs appealing to some as others ramp up the summertime effort to get the vehicles off the street.

Just last week, police in Philadelphia announced plans to crack down on ATVs and dirt bikes, which are illegal to ride in the city. The department is asking for tips about riding and storage locations.
