Crews continue to repair leak at Mt. Airy intersection

Officials with the Philadelphia Water Department said Friday that crews are still working to repair an underground leak that has been soaking the intersection of Germantown and E. Mt. Airy avenues since Tuesday.

Laura Copeland, a PWD spokesperson, said there are three water mains at the Mount Airy corner, making it difficult to determine the source of the leak.

On Thursday afternoon, three PWD employees were on site. One stood in a hole dug out along the shoulder of Germantown Avenue. Crews returned to the intersection Friday morning, said Copeland.

Copeland said workers will remain at the intersection until the problem is fixed.
