Crews at Crayola site in Pa. find old coin, bones
Crews working on renovations to a Crayola tourist attraction in eastern Pennsylvania have unearthed a 225-year-old coin, bones and other artifacts.
The facility was formerly known as The Crayola Factory and is now called The Crayola Experience.
It closed for renovations and expansions in February. The 60,000-square-foot building is set to reopen May 24.
The Express-Times reports crews digging up part of a sidewalk found the coin, along with shards of pottery, bones and several oyster shells on Wednesday.
Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek says he consulted with a forensic anthropologist and determined the bones were from a large animal, not a human being. Lysek says the coin shows the year 1788 and is a copper New Jersey nickel.
