Could Rendell ever become New York City’s mayor?

Mayor, governor, lawyer, commentator, columnist – Ed Rendell has been a lot of things. Could mayor of New York City be his next title?

In a New York Times piece reviewing NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s potential dream candidates as his successor, Rendell’s name comes up.He grew up in New York native, after all.

Not one to sit quietly, Rendell responded to speculation, telling the NYT, “I have no understanding of Queens and no understanding of the Bronx.” Running for mayor of New York “didn’t sit well with me.”

Bloomberg adviser Bradley Tusk, a former Rendell intern, said the Rendell idea came from people in the business community, not anyone tied to Bloomberg.

Rendell got the last word, though, telling Tusk to go ahead and “put it into a poll” if he wants.
