Corbett OKs execution for two on Pa. death row
Gov. Tom Corbett has signed execution warrants for two convicted killers on Pennsylvania’s death row.
Moving closer to death by lethal injection is James A. Dennis, 40, of Philadelphia. He was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Chedell Williams in October 1991 as she walked home from school, reports Philly.com. Dennis, scheduled to die May 10, grabbed the girl’s earrings, then shot her.
A Bucks County man is scheduled for execution May 12. Richard R. Laird, 47, was also convicted of first-degree murder in the stabbing of Anthony Milano, 26.
Since taking office in January, Corbett has signed four death warrants.
The last execution in Pennsylvania was in 1999.
