Cooper Medical School holds first graduation

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University is holding its first commencement ceremony.

Gov. Chris Christie on Monday will speak to the charter class of medical students to graduate from the school, which opened in Camden in 2012.

Cooper Hospital partnered with Rowan University in 2008 when then Gov. Jon Corzine officially ended the hospital’s relationship with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. The school was officially established in 2009.

Groundbreaking for the medical school’s $139 million building took place in 2010.
