Construction costs put Delco’s animal control facility project on hold

Delaware County’s animal control facility project is on hold because estimated construction cost has gone up.

What started as a $700,000 to $800,000 project has become a $2 million effort, according to the Delaware County Times, and such a price tag is an unreasonable undertaking without state or federal aid.
The Delaware County Animal Protection Board was formed last year in response to the county’s SPCA move to become a no-kill shelter. Now, the county’s agreement with the Chester County SPCA will be extended six months, and maybe beyond that, to accept strays from Delaware County.
