Conservancy to announce plans for saving SS United States

The SS United States Conservancy has announced it will purchase the SS United States, which rests on the Delaware River just off Columbus Boulevard in South Philadelphia.

More details are expected at an afternoon press conference. The historic ship has seen the likes of Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Clinton, plus immigrants, celebrities and average joes since its 1952 launch.
