ConocoPhillips employees leave Delco plant after first round of layoffs

    It’s not a great day for ConocoPhillips employees.

    About half of its 385 employees were laid off today following last week’s union vote for a severance contract. The company says it will demolish the idle oil refinery if a buyer isn’t found by March.
    The Delaware County Times was in Trainer as the now-former employees filed out after a morning meeting. Wastewater treatment operator Rich Wright says he’s not holding out hope that a buyer will come through and hire him back.
