Connector road in Lower Swatara Townships opened after flooding

A new connector road has opened early to help residents in Lower Swatara Township navigate around flooded roads.

The Patriot-News reports Meade Avenue, which has a signalized intersection on Route 230, was opened Labor Day weekend to offer drivers another way around high water.

According to the report, Penn State Harrisburg decided to open the road after flooding blocked the University Drive entrance off Route 230 last week.

In addition to commuter traffic, officials say the road is helping truckers to navigate around flooded roads.
