A 48-year old Lewes man who set out for a late night fishing trip at Delaware’s Indian River Inlet, is missing.

Delaware State Police say Joel Thompson set out to go fishing at the base of the inlet bridge around 11:00 p.m. Monday night. When he hadn’t returned home by this morning, concerned family members called police.  Thompson’s Toyota Tacoma truck and cell phone remain at the parking lot.

A rescue boat crew from the Coast Guard Indian River station, along with a rescue helicopter crew from Atlantic City, and another rescue crew from Cape May, NJ are all helping in the search for Thompson.
