Closed bridge leads to closed business in Royersford, Spring City

A struggling economy and a bridge closure have made for a bad combination in Spring City and Royersford.

A handful of businesses have had to shut their doors since the bridge between the two communities closed last month unexpectedly for repairs.

PennDOT expects to reopen the bridge by Aug. 29 for the first day of school, but that proved too late for some businesses that counted on the daily traffic between Royersford and Spring City to keep business alive.

The Mercury reports Bent Note Cafe and Perry’s Place have shut their doors, and other businesses have changed modes from revitalization to stabilization.
