“It’s a beautiful day in Seaside Heights…”
That’s how the above 1985 TV commercial begins, quickly transitioning from an image of an old transistor radio on the beach to quick-hitting, timeless Seaside Heights scenes. (Except perhaps the hair styles and dance moves.)
But the best part of the YouTube video isn’t the 29-second commercial.
It’s the 30-plus minutes of raw footage that was shot from the bay to the beach when the film crew came to the “Home of Sun ‘n Fun.”
Borough resident Peter Smith discovered the film, which was then converted and edited by Joe Verderosa of Greenrose Media, according to the YouTube description.
So get ready to relive those much simpler summer days in the mid-1980s.
