Christie will decide this week on disaster status of South Jersey counties

N.J. Gov Chris Christie is expected to decide by tomorrow whether to issue a disaster declaration for parts of South Jersey.

Salem and Cumberland counties are still assessing the extent of the damaged caused by this week’s rain and subsequent floods. Based on a damage report from the state Office of Emergency Management, Christie will decide whether to apply for financial relief from FEMA.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Cumberland County is asking residents to submit reports through the county’s website to help accurately report how much damage has been done.
