Christie pushes forward on sports betting despite federal ban

Chris Christie won’t let a little thing like a federal ban get in the way of bringing sports betting to New Jersey.

The guv was in Atlantic City yesterday to kick off the tourist season, but his press conference put a heavy focus on bringing more gaming opportunities to A.C.
According to the Press of Atlantic City, Christie expects to introduce sports betting this fall, though a federal ban prohibits sports betting in just about every U.S. state.

The Garden State risks a lawsuit if it violates the federal ban, but if the feds go ahead and open up sports to the rest of the country, then New Jersey won’t reap as many benefits, anyway.
