Christie in Newark to meet with Portuguese ambassador to the U.S.

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie is in Newark today to meet the with Portuguese ambassador to the U.S.

The Associated Press reports Christie and Nuno Brito will chat at a restaurant in a “heavily Portuguese neighborhood” about New Jersey-Portuguese relations.

Two things bound to come up are the court appearances of two separate cases of Portuguese residents with ties to the Garden State. One man is fighting extradition after escaping a New Jersey prison during a murder sentence and another will be sent back to Portugal to serve time for plotting to kill his ex-wife.
