CHOP specialist shares tips for preventing knee injuries in female athletes

Heard of “no pain, no gain”? Well tonight’s discussion with a Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia doctor is all about “no gain with pain.”

Dr. Ted Ganley, CHOP’s director of sports medicine, will host a forum tonight to give tips for preventing knee injuries in young female athletes.

Aside from cautioning against overuse and playing through the pain, Ganley is set to give specific tips for avoiding injury based on female athletes’ body proportions, biomechanical ratios and physics.

Ganley is an orthopedic surgeon and advisory board member at the Agnes Irwin School’s Center for the Advancement of Girls in Rosemont, where he’ll host the 7:30 p.m. forum.
