Chester Co. farmers come together to donate fresh produce to the hungry

Nearly 40 Chester County farmers are coming together to donate fresh produce to the hungry as part of the Chester County Food Bank’s Gleaning Program.

According to The Daily Local News, the Gleaning Program provides fresh produce to the hungry, rather than food just from a box.

In a typical year, volunteers harvest more than 80,000 pounds of fresh produce, which is then distributed through the food bank’s network of 65 food pantries and cupboards.

The Daily Local News reports more than 3,000 pounds of fresh products has already been delivered this year.
