This is it! It’s your last chance to get your fill of holiday festivities before the jolly old guy pays a visit to your home. Enjoy the last weekend of holiday activities in the Northwest and throughout the Philadelphia region.

    Northwest

    Chestnut Hill Sundays:

Sundays in Chestnut Hill are always fun in December. Santa will be roaming the Avenue, passing out candy canes to the children and good cheer to all. Parking is free and most of the stores and boutiques are open for business. Take a break at the Children’s Park in Chestnut Hill – a huge playground at Jenks School (Southampton/Germantown Avenues).

    Amazing Light Displays:

Yoast Family in Ambler – Over 150,000 lights are displayed in a multitude of vignettes on a sprawling property in Ambers. Located at 1320 Butler Pike in Ambler with easily access off the Susquehanna exit of 309, the light display is breathtaking. The family takes donations but all are welcome.

Candy Cane Lane in Oreland – The 100 block of Garth Rd. in Oreland takes Christmas decorating very seriously and decorates for Christmas with giant candy canes outlining the streets. Each house hosts shiny lights to create a fun and festive block.

    Downtown:

A Christmas Carol – A holiday season would be incomplete without this famous story. Playing at the Walnut Street Theatre until Dec. 22, this classic story is full of holiday cheer amidst the “Bah Humbug”. Kids will love the special hour-long adaptation which uses original and traditional songs to highlight Dickens’ powerful story.

Macy’s Light Display: Once known as Wanamaker’s Light Display, this quintessential Philadelphia experience runs through Dec. 31 at Macy’s Center City Store, 1300 Market Street. More than 100,000 lights glow to create holiday images & displays on a tall wall on Macy’s first floor. Show runs every hour on the hour.

Christmas Village: Visit Love Park (15th/Arch) and experience the German tradition of a Christmas Market where a wonderful collection of vendors show their wares, serve cocoa and celebrate the season.
