Car accident spurs heavy traffic on Route 9 in Bayville Friday afternoon

    Motorists planning on traveling Route 9 in Bayville Friday afternoon should expect delays following an earlier car accident.

    A van struck a traffic signal stanchion at Route 9 and Iger Way around 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to emergency radio transmissions. 

    It was not immediately known if there were any injuries. 

    As of shortly before 3:30 p.m., repair crews remain on the scene, and a traffic shift is in place, according to 511nj.org.
