Write Gov. Christie’s GOP convention speech

The Republican National Convention is scheduled to begin Monday in Tampa, but officials may delay “the convention without walls” if tropical storm Isaac tries to take the slogan too literally.

Either way, Gov. Christie is sure to bring his characteristic bluster in his keynote speech scheduled for Tuesday.

In an August 14 statement he said, “If we tell each other the hard truths, tackle the big problems, and make bold choices, we will see America’s comeback.” The governor has tackled some big problems here in New Jersey, including the signing of the teacher tenure reform bill.

But on August 16, a report showed that New Jersey’s unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in July, topping the national rate by 1.5 percent.

So, if the message the GOP wants Christie to deliver is that Republican policies work in N.J. and the Romney/Ryan ticket will channel that spirit into federal policies, if you were giving the speech what would you tell the nation they should expect?
