Camden agrees to county police department concept

While Camden City Council was discussing plans for a business curfew yesterday, the city, county and state reached an agreement to form a regional police force.

Under the agreement, the City of Camden agrees to share police budget information, crime response statistics, crime data and personnel records of all current and laid off police officers, NJ.com reports. The Camden County Police Department will be available to all county municipalities on a voluntary basis.

The next step is for the county to submit plans to the state by Sept. 30.
