Cafeteria workers at College of Osteopathic Medicine stage walk-off

Sodexo workers at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine have staged a one-day walk-off, refusing to serve in the school’s cafeteria to protest the company’s resistance to an employee union.

A release from 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, which is assisting the PCOM Sodexo employees, states some of the workers make $9.25 an hour and are unable to support their families.

Joined by students and community leaders, the Sodexo employees will rally at 12:30 p.m. to fight for better wages and working conditions and what they say are unlawful actions by the school and company to stop the employees from forming a union.

The protest is at Evans Hall at 4170 City Avenue.
