Business is blossoming with Tastykakes under Flowers Foods’ lead

Flowers Foods Inc. had a profitable third quarter, thanks in large part to Tastykakes.

Sales through Oct. 8 were up 13 percent, the Inquirer reports, with 8.7 percent of that coming from Tasty Baking Co. Flowers bought the Philadelphia company in May and has since eliminated 32 positions here.

Tastykakes are now delivered to 2,200 delivery routes of independent distributors, and that number could be 3,500 by year’s end.
