Burlingon County zoo owner says he’ll rebuild as animal activists make accusations

After two fires, Animal Kingdom owner Burton Sipp says he intends to rebuild his Burlington County zoo. But animal activists want the zoo closed for good.

Giraffes, dogs, cats and birds died in an October fire at the zoo. The first fire occurred in April, and took the life of Sipp’s wife, Bridget.
Sipp’s zoo was cited by the USDA just days before the October fire for multiple violations of the Animal Welfare Act, but Sipp tells the Times of Trenton Animal Kingdom is a safe operation and allegations of foul play in the fires are baseless.

Authorities continue to investigate the October fire, and PETA wants a federal investigation of the zoo’s conditions.
