Bulldozer blade strikes overpass in Lower Pottsgrove

A bulldozer blade struck the Armand Hammer overpass last night, falling onto the roadway in Lower Pottsgrove.

The Mercury reports the blade, which weighed between three and five tons, fell onto the eastbound lanes of Route 422. According to the report, the driver of the truck didn’t stop when the blade hit the overpass.

Inspectors with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation were called to the area to check the structural integrity of the overpass. Rebar from the overpass was exposed after being struck by the blade.

The Mercury has video and a photo of the giant blade on its website.
