Bristol woman returns $30K she found in old clothes

A suburban Philadelphia resident says she found $30,000 in cash in the pockets of some clothes given to her after an elderly woman died— and returned the money to the woman’s family.

Bristol resident Carol Sutor says she found the money inside the clothes last week. She says a relative of her cousin’s had died and the cousin gave her the clothes to give to her own mother.

When Sutor was going through the clothes, she says she found bank envelopes containing $100 bills totaling $30,000. She says she called her cousin, Medford, N.J., resident Marlene Lattanzi, who came over and counted the money, too. She gave Sutor $1,000 back.

Lattanzi says the money likely was misplaced among the 85-year-old woman’s possessions after Superstorm Sandy flooded her house in October.
