Bridgeton resident replaces Magazzu as Cumberland County freeholder

Bridgeton resident Charlie Thomas will replace Lou Magazzu as Cumberland County freeholder following the latter’s resignation earlier this month.

The Cumberland County Democratic Organization made the decision yesterday instead of waiting for today’s freeholders meeting.

Thomas will be sworn in tomorrow night after the board chose him over Donna Pearson of Bridgeton and Francis Riley of the county Democratic Party committee, as the News of Cumberland County reports. The seat had to be filled within 30 days of Magazzu’s resignation, which came after nude photos of him were published online.
