Bridge construction reduces eastbound 76 to one lane

If you’re burning the midnight oil at work this week, be ready for some traffic pattern changes on 76.

Today through Friday, eastbound 76 will be reduced to just one lane at the 30th Street/Market Street exit (345) as crews work on the Chestnut Street Bridge. Those lane restrictions will be in effect daily from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

And that’s not all. Chestnut Street is also looking at lane restrictions:

From 30th Street to Schuylkill Avenue

    9 a.m. to 3 p.m. restrictions
    7 p.m. to 10 p.m. restrictions
10 p.m. to 5 p.m. traffic will be detoured over 33rd, Schuylkill and Market

The work is part of PennDOT’s $50.8 million project to improve Chestnut and Market streets around 30th Street Station and fix six structurally deficient bridges on Arch, 30th, Market, Chestnut and Little Market.
