Brick Police recover 549 bags of heroin, other drugs following traffic stop

    Two were arrested on various charges and police seized a significant amount of drugs following a traffic stop in Brick Tuesday afternoon, police announced today.

    Detectives stopped a vehicle occupied by Brittany A. Cassanovas, 25, of 17th Avenue in Brick and Amanda M. Louk, 20, of Sawmill Road in Brick early Tuesday afternoon, said Sgt. Henry J. Drew, a spokesman for the Brick Township Police Department, in a release. 

    A further investigation led police to securing a court authorized search warrant for the vehicle, leading to the seizure of 549 bags of heroin, approximately 12 grams of crack cocaine, prescription narcotics, a scale, and $1,875, according to Drew.  

    Cassanovas was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession of CDS, and possession of CDS paraphernalia, Drew said. She was processed and released on a criminal summons with a pending court date.

    Louk was charged with two counts of possession of CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and hindering apprehension, Drew said. She was charged on a criminal summons with a pending court date then turned over to the custody of the Toms River Police Department on an outstanding warrant issued by the Toms River Municipal Court.

    Det. Sgt. Joseph Forrester, Det. Brian Lash, and Det. Jason Shepherd conducted the investigation.
