Authorities say a boy stabbed during a fight at a Monmouth County mall has been hospitalized with a collapsed lung.

But it’s not clear what sparked the scuffle that broke out Saturday night at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.

A video posted on Twitter showed a group of young people fighting inside the mall near a Macy’s entrance shortly after 9 p.m, according to a JSHN report

Authorities say the boy remained hospitalized today at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. But further details on his condition were not released and his name and age have not been disclosed.

Some stores located near the stabbing scene were briefly closed last night while the incident was investigated. But the mall was operating normally today.

It wasn’t clear how many people were involved in the fight that led to the stabbing. But authorities say no other injuries were reported.

An investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not yet said if anyone is in custody.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Eatontown Police Department at 732-542-0100
