Borgata lost $10 million during Hurrican Irene

If it hadn’t been for Hurricane Irene, Boyd Gaming COO Paul Chakmak says the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City would have had third quarter revenue and earnings increases.

Instead, as KYW reports, the Borgata reported a 2.7 percent dip in revenue and 7.4 percent decline in earnings for the quarter. The Borgata and other A.C. casinos shut down for three days in August as Irene came up the coast.

But the Borgata remains the city’s top performer, raking in almost a quarter of the city’s table games intake. It’s currently undergoing a $50 million renovation.
