Board votes to return $500K in Abington
Commissioners in Abington have voted to relinquish approximately $500,000 of state money meant to go towards a new library.
According to the Montgomery News, the money was awarded to the township by the office of State Senator LeAnna Washington, D-4.
Board of Commissioners in Abington voted on July 14th to relinquish the money, which would have gone towards a new Roslyn Branch Library. The library was to be located at 1180 Easton Road.
According to the report, the grant money was contingent upon the township being able to match it.
Abington director of economic development M. Matthew Lahaza told the Montgomery News the township needed local matches to raise the money, which it does not have at this point.
