No injuries were reported when a fast-moving blaze destroyed a century-old house in Deal.

The fire in the three-story house at 62 Monmouth Drive was reported around 8 p.m. Saturday, according to the Asbury Park Press

It then took firefighters several hours to contain the blaze, and at one point they were briefly pulled back over concerns that the structure was on the verge of collapse.

Officials say the blaze appeared to be concentrated in the top two floors of the Queen Anne-style house, which was built in 1909.

In addition to the borough’s fire and police departments, firefighters from West Long Branch, Long Branch, Wanamassa, and Tinton Falls responded.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
