Biographer: Former Pa. Sen. Fumo hospitalized
Former state Sen. Vincent Fumo’s biographer says the convicted lawmaker was taken to a Philadelphia hospital for internal bleeding, possibly related to a biopsy Fumo recently had to determine whether he has prostate cancer.
The biographer, former Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Ralph Cipriano tells Philly.com he spoke with Fumo while he was being taken to Hahnemann University Hospital on Monday.Cipriano says Fumo told him he was bleeding, felt dizzy and might need a transfusion.
A hospital spokeswoman, Chrissy Driadon tells The Associated Press Fumo remained in fair condition Monday night.
The 70-year-old former lawmaker served four years in federal prison for a public corruption conviction, and returned in August to finish his sentence on house arrest at his Philadelphia mansion. Fumo’s sentence runs through February.
