Bike-share firm’s carbon methodology gains accreditation

Back in the spring, two Drexel grads were on a mission: get carbon counting methodology accreditation for CityRyde, their bike-share program that sells consulting services to programs trying to cut costs.

The four-year-old company now has accrediation under the Verified Carbon Standard, and a $345,000 investment. Through its program, CityRyde helps bike-share programs “track, certify and monetize carbon offset credits gained through the use of their shared bicycles.”

The system is meant to help bike-sharing program overcome the cost obstacle to bring more bikes to cities.
