Bethany Beach to debate cell phone tower

Bethany Beach residents and the town council are getting ready to debate whether a cell phone tower belongs in that community.

The Coastal Point newspaper reports a series of hearings are set beginning January 21st and again on February 7th on whether AT&T should have the right to erect a tower on the east side of Route 1, just north of the intersection with Jefferson Bridge Road.  The cell phone giant had been given permission to erect the tower on a temporary basis, but a group of residents had that decision over turned in court.

Homeowners against the project claim the tower won’t fit in and will be unsightly.  They hope the town will consider alternative sites.
