Benefit dinner for Salem Fire Department Museum

After eight years of work and volunteer efforts, the Salem Fire Department Museum still need a little help before it’s ready. So on Saturday, the Salem City Cafe will host a benefit dinner to help fund the improvements.

The 260-year-old museum — formerly the Union Fire Co. — is the oldest continually operating volunteer fire company in the state. Much of the second floor still needs attention, and floors and windows will have to be repaired and replaced.

Today’s Sunbeam has more details on the project and information about the fundraiser.
