Beau Biden heads home from hospital today

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is scheduled to be released from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital this afternoon.

The 41-year old has been getting treatment for a mild stroke he suffered one week ago.  He was initially taken to Christiana Hospital in Newark, but was transferred to Jefferson.

Biden acknowledged reporters as he left the hospital with words praising the doctors and nurses, and said “It’s good to be heading home.”

His doctor,  Dr. Robert Rosenwasser, released a statement: “I am pleased to report that the results of his final discharge general and neurological exam find his neurological status perfect in all arenas including motor skills, language function, and cognitive assessment.  I am extremely pleased about his status as of discharge and have released him to assume full responsibilities as Attorney General after a brief period of rest at home.”  The doctor credit quick response with everyone connected with Biden’s care.

Vice President Joe Biden was not at the hospital when his son was released.  The elder Biden visited his son several times in the past week.  He was in Delaware and Pennsylvania for a series of scheduled events when the attorney-general went into the hospital.  He held a scheduled campaign fund raiser for Beau Biden on Saturday.  The younger Biden made an unannounced phone call to the group.
