Bass campaign has two staffers familiar with political corruption

Cindy Bass seems to be taking Milton Street’s approach to second chances when it comes to her staffers. The 8th District City Council candidate employees two staffers associated with past political corruption.

Reports from City Paper and G-town Radio found Bass’ campaign employs Steven Vaughn, a former aide to Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller, who pleaded guilty in a 2005 pay-to-play scandal; and Sabir Hameen, who’s lived with former Miller aide Theresa Pinkett. Pinkett pleaded guilty to bribery.

A Bass spokesman called the news a “distraction.”
