Band of sleet, light snow moving through portion of Central Jersey

A band of snow and sleet is impacting a portion of Central Jersey at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service says the band is moving toward the northeast and is expected to “consolidate and weaken.”
“Any falling sleet should quickly changeover to all snow. Accumulation upwards of a half inch is possible with this banding making for very slick conditions on area roadways. Please use extra caution while driving this morning,” a National Weather Service Special Weather Statement advises.
High clouds are expected to thin throughout the day, especially in southern areas, according to the National Weather Service. High temperatures today will be around normal for late January, forecasters say, ranging from the mid 30s to low 40s.
