Avid Foursquare users compete for message from Nutter
For those of you unfamiliar with Foursquare, we’ll simplify it. It’s a social networking tool that allows you to virtually “check in” to places and connect with others around you. Check into a place enough and you become the “mayor.”
If you’re the “mayor” of the Independence Visitor Center on April 30, Michael Nutter, the actual mayor, will send you a message on Twitter. It’s all very exciting, trust us.
Now that Visit Philly has its own Foursquare page where people can get tourist tips and ideas, there has to be a celebration of some sort. And, naturally, a contest.
Between now and April 30, the person who checks into the center the most and becomes the mayor at noon on the 30th will get a tweet from @Michael_Nutter. You only get to check in once a day.
We think Visit Philly should raise the stakes a bit. Perhaps the new mayor should get a key to the city?
