The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department seeks the public’s assistance in locating one of its K-9 dogs, who ran off after spotting a deer in the woods.

“Jack,” a brown Chesapeake Bay Retriever, was last seen in Allaire State Park during a training exercise at approximately 2:00 p.m. Monday, according to a statement released by the agency. The park borders Wall and Howell.

He is not an attack dog, the agency notes, adding that the one-year-old K-9’s skill set is “scent work and tracking.”

Anyone who finds Jack should call the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department at (732) 349-2010.
