Authorities investigating South Toms River shooting
Authorities are investigating a shooting in South Toms River that left a man dead late Monday night.
Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, said the Toms River Police Department responded to Community Medical Center in Toms River shortly before 11:00 p.m. on a report of a gunshot victim.
Preliminary information indicates that the shooting took place earlier in South Toms River, Della Fave said.
The responding officers notified Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit Det. John Carroll and Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI for the investigation, according to the spokesman.
27-year-old Willie Love III, a resident of the Bayville section of Berkeley Township, was pronounced dead at 11:27 p.m., Della Fave said.
“There is nothing further to report at this time,” the spokesman said, adding that authorities continue to investigate.
