August already record-setting for rain totals in Philadelphia

The Associated Press reports the month of August in Philadelphia has already been record setting.

According to the AP, 13.61 inches of rain has already fallen in Philadelphia this month, breaking the previous record of 12.10 inches, set in 1911.

Friday’s rain only helped add to the total, with .61 inches reported to have fallen at Philadelphia International Airport, according to the National Weather Service.

The Associated Press says this month’s record-setting numbers have made August 2011 the all-time wettest month on record, breaking the previous record of 13.07, set in September 1999.
